Ekahau HeatMapper is an application that allows you to view the accessible wireless hotspots placed on a map.

The theory tells us that if the wireless access point is nearer, the connection will be better. If we follow those instructions, we'll be able to access the nearest hotspot and the connection will be better.

You'll only have to run it and it will automatically detect surrounding wireless networks and it will indicate the signal strength, so you'll be able to choose the best one depending on your position.

If you have a map of the area in which you are placed, the program will be able to allocate all those wireless access points according to the map.

It can be pretty useful if you are in a public area and you wish to have better signal.

Finally, you can save maps to use them later.
